The Persian Gulf gave rise to several settlements that developed from a small desert village to a modern metropolis. Here we can see Doha, the capital of Qatar.

In recent years Qatar became more famous as it hosted the Football World Cup in 2022. Already in the year 2019 you could see new developments, large construction sites that shaped into stadiums for that event. This one is Al Bayt, the house, in the shape of a large tent of the local nomads.

In the year 2022 the finished Al Bayt was even at night clearly visible, as it seems to be a habit in rich Middle Eastern countries to keep the light on at night no matter what.

After taking off from Hamad International Airport the Stadium 974 could be seen, a temporary stadium which was built from shipping containers to be disassembled later. If they didn’t change their mind, unlike about a certain structure in Paris. The number 974 stands for the amount of containers used for the stadium.

Qatar Airways made passengers familiar with the safety features by a special World Cup themed video.
