World Exhibition

The Expo 2020 Dubai followed in details the footsteps of the Expo 2000 Hannover and the Expo 2010 Shanghai.

Some elements actually reminded of the Expo 2000, but combined with an Arabic style.

African style doesn’t require sophisticated pavilions, it speaks for itself. Most African countries were present on this Expo, for example Namibia.

The whole world was there, no matter whether landlocked country or tropical island nation like Saint Lucia.

The design and architecture were spiralling to new heights like in the pavilion of the Philippines.

The Arabic or Islamic world of course showed itself in its whole bandwidth, from Morocco to Indonesia and Mozambique to Uzbekistan, the latter with an amount of lamps Erich Honecker would like.

On the wide walkways connecting the different parts of the Expo you could encounter a certain low flying bird in the evening.

Sustainability was so important that it got its own pavilion, including large flowers containing solar cells.

The architecture often involved concrete vegetation, like in the Dutch pavilion.

The search for special solutions came to results like a flooded floor to represent the rivers and rain forests of Brazil.

Sometimes you stood in a forest after entering a building, if the country has a lot of trees like Sweden.

Certain constants were given by the climate of Dubai.

For getting a bird view you don’t have to be one like the one passing by once more.

It is enough to be on a plane for example of Emirates on the way back to a less interesting place than this one, the Expo 2020 Dubai.
