Over The North Sea

On the way to the island of Sylt, as usual over the Hindenburgdamm causeway but for the first time by a classical train, while the North Sea reflected a suitable nature.

The Hindenburgdamm is an eleven kilometres long causeway joining the North Frisian island of Sylt to mainland Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. It was opened on 1 June 1927.

A train trip along the causeway takes about ten minutes, and the time between the auto terminals at Niebüll on the mainland and Westerland on Sylt is about thirty minutes.

Most people use one of the car trains to go to Sylt with their own vehicle. I did this on the way back.
