The Palace of the Republic (Palast der Republik) in Berlin was the seat of the parliament of the GDR or DDR, the German Democratic Republic, the communistic country of East Germany which existed from 1949 till 1990.
The Palace was constructed in 1976 and was demolished between 2006 and 2008. Afterwards the Berlin Palace was reconstructed on the site between 2013 and 2020, a classical building which existed before the Palace of the Republic.
