Notre Dame in its current condition two months after the fire that had happened during renovation works on 15 April 2019 and destroyed the roof and spire.

The Louvre Palace was built in the 12th and 13th century and in 1793 it was converted into the museum that we know nowadays. The glass pyramid was completed in 1988.

The Eiffel Tower was constructed from 1887 till 1889 as the centrepiece of the 1889 World’s Fair, nowadays known as Expo, so it was designed in a way that it could be easily dismantled.

It is named after the engineer Alexandre Gustave Bonickhausen dit Eiffel whose company designed and built the tower. His parents had added the name Eiffel to their family name as it reminds of the Eifel mountains in Germany where his father came from.
