The Expo 2010 took place on both sides of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. It had the largest number of countries participating and was the most expensive Expo in the history of the world’s fairs. The Shanghai World Expo was also the largest world’s fair site ever at 5.28 square km.

By the end of the expo, a record attendance of over 73 million people had visited and 246 countries and international organizations had participated.

The motto of the Expo 2010 was “Better City – Better Life” and indeed the city of Shanghai was transformed as well. The World Financial Center was completed in 2008 and in the same year construction of the Shanghai Tower started, on the photo the foundation was being finished.

The last two photos show a roundabout near the Oriental Pearl Tower in 2009 when large parts of the city were under construction and in 2010 during the time of the expo.
