Although the site has been continuously inhabited since the 2nd century BCE, the world “Kremlin” was first mentioned in the year 1331. It contained the Tsar palace, was later the seat of the Soviet government and nowadays of the President and government of the Russian Federation. The word “Kremlin” means “fortress inside of a city” which exists in various cities in Russia.




The Moscow State University was founded in 1755, this main building was built between 1947 and 1953 and was the tallest building in Europe until 1990. It remains the tallest educational building in the world.

The last photo shows the area of the Moscow International Business Center before all the skyscrapers were built. Nowadays the skyline is an impressive view from the Moskva River, but in 2003 nothing of that was there except this bridge.
