One of the first sights in the centre of Havana is not only the Capitol Building of Cuba at the Paseo de Martí or Prado, but also the Hotel Saratoga. Nowadays it looks even more special, although it is not supposed to look like that. The building was constructed in 1880 as a warehouse, in 1933 it became the Hotel Alcazar and later renamed Saratoga. In the nineties the complete interior was replaced by a modern concrete structure, finished in 2005. That is what you can see now since a gas explosion on 6 May 2022 has blown off the ancient facade
