The BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa decided during their summit in South Africa from 22 till 24 August 2023 to admit the six countries Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to the community from 1 January 2024 onwards. Due to that admission it will be known as BRICS Plus. 23 countries had applied to join and another 16 were interested. It is a community for creating a multipolar world order with equality and peace, and therefore ending American hegemony
