I stayed one night in a motel in the north of Almaty, not only for saving money but because I wanted to know how it is like to stay in a motel. It is very basic and unexpectedly there was no WiFi but it had a special character, and the staff were kind and helpful. However, it also involved a lot of walking sometimes without sidewalks because bus stops are rare
