Not only Kigali was built on several hills. The city Byzantium was founded on seven hills on a peninsula at the Bosporus in the 7th century BCE. In 330 CE it was renamed Constantinople, later Stambul and in 1930 Istanbul. The Süleymaniye Mosque was built on the third hill and can be seen very well from hotel rooms in the area like on this photo
