One could say everything in the universe happens due to coincidences. But what is coincidence? It seems like everything is a part of an evolution, so it is a part of the chain of causality, which is normally called a chain although it is rather like a net or a tree. The result or effect of something is also the cause for something else or for several other things.
From what we know it seemed to have begun with the Big Bang, the only effect without cause, the day without yesterday. But I think there might also have been a cause for that, maybe some other universe before or around ours, so that there was never any beginning, but that is another topic.
The point is that something like coincidence (and also God) is a thing of definition. After causality there is no coincidence. But varying only a small part of the chain of causality can lead to other effects.
What we call a coincidence is a moment when we see an effect but don’t know the exact causes, so there is a causality gap for us. But it cannot be said, at least not for sure, that something or someone is controlling and changing effects or results.
