If we would always just have trusted our senses we would still think the earth is flat and the planets and sun are moving around us. And that someone put us here on one day and the animals as well. And the sun is a lightbulb. But fortunately we have the ability to imagine a reality which is different from what it appears to be. Which ranges from the earth orbiting the sun to quants being both particle and wave at the same time.

So we should generally accept that our way of thinking cannot explain everything. Why are we here? That is not the question. Why can we ask the question “why are we here”? That is the question. And the answer is simple: Evolution. One could say coincidence, but of course coincidences don’t really exist, it is everything in the chain of causality, cause and effect.
