Just A Noble Person

Karl May was really a good person, but sometimes not treated well. There is the story that when he travelled to Gartow in the Kingdom of Hanover in 1898 to research for another story about Prince Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau he gave a small girl and her poor father 100 mark, but the next morning the police came to his room to ask him questions and telling him that he would need to stay in that room for a while till they know more about him. They sent a letter to the mayor of Radebeul in Dresden who answered “yes, Karl May is living here and likes to do charity”
