The Benz Patent Motorwagen had been invented by Karl Benz in 1886 and was the very first automobile in the world. His wife Bertha helped to make the invention a success when she did the first journey by car from Mannheim to Pforzheim. On the way she invented brake lining and an apothecary shop became the first petrol station
