The site of the former Kowloon Station of the Kowloon Canton Railway. The Clock Tower was finished in 1915, and the whole Kowloon Station in March 1916, not as stated on Wikipedia in 1910, in fact on 1 October 1910 the Kowloon Canton Railway began operating its British section, most part of that is nowadays called East Rail Line. First it used a temporary station near the post office at Salisbury Road until the second station was completed in 1916. The Clock Tower used the clock of the former Pedder Street Clock Tower, but only in 1921 clocks were installed on all four sides.
Kowloon Station was demolished in 1977 and replaced by the Cultural Centre, Museum of Arts and Space Museum, but the Clock Tower was preserved as a compromise, as well as some columns which were put in the park at Chatham Road. A new Kowloon Station was built in Hung Hom, nowadays called Hung Hom Station.
In the future the East Rail Line will be called North South Line and for the first time it will have a terminus on Hong Kong Island, at Admiralty Station, passing Exhibition Station on the way.
